Vintage Lookback: 1st Miss America

On this day back in 1921 the first Miss America was crowned.

Margaret Gorman of  Washington DC was crowned the first winner.

The competition at the time was called  The "Inner-City Beauty" Contest.

We have been out enjoying the weather...buying new things to take to the next flea market....and getting organized in our storage room.

Thirsty Thursday: Vintage Edition

Singapore Sling: 

The Singapore Sling is a South-East Asian cocktail. This long drink was developed sometime before 1915^[1] by Ngiam Tong Boon, a Hainanese bartender working at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel Singapore. It was initially called the gin sling,^[2] - a sling was originally an American drink composed of spirit and water, sweetened and flavored.^[3] - Wikipedia

Recipe:

1/2 oz of Grenadine Syrup

1 oz of Gin

Sweet and Sour Mix

Club Soda

1/2 oz of Cherry Brandy

Pour Grenadine in collins glass with ice.

Add Gin and equal parts Sweet and Sour mix 

and Club Soda to almost fill glass.

Top with cherry brandy.

Garnish with orange slice & cherry.

Enjoy learning another vintage drink!
